Ahh, the only downside to the IDS program is that once you get to drive and
bond with the new car, you have to say bye-bye and give it up to the shipping
agent when you fly home. The new 93SS will get on a boat Monday the 17th,
travel for 4 weeks to the LA port, then take another 2 weeks (estimated) to
complete paperwork and transport to Sacramento! It will be the end of June
before we see it again!
Regarding the Ecotec 2.0L Turbo, personally I found it completely acceptable aside
from the "soft" tuning, which makes me want the PPC programming already. I was
very surprised to find that the race SS’s that compete in the Swedish Touring/Endurance
series don't use the Ecotec motor -- they swap it for a B205 with a huge turbo...I think
that is from a european 9000 2.0L without balance shafts. Frank S commented that
they just don’t have enough experience with the new motor to race it. They do however
make a few modifications so that they can use the new 6-speed trans, which was
described as “bulletproof” compared to the earlier 5-speeds.
