You have to evaluate what you have and uncover the 'bottlenecks'...
c900 have very little fuel, so you'll notice that even mild fuel upgrades will make a big seat of the pants difference. The exhuast actually flows prett good and will have no problem support 200 hp or so. The intake is a bottle neck, but any mods along these lines need to be sensitive to heat...i.e. an open filter behind the intercooler will only give good performance in cool weather.
A fender mounted intake, apc and fuel boost can make a safe 200hp. The next step I would look towards would be the intercooler, and then the downpipe/exhuast.
Brakes are important too, but it's my experience that a stock c900 system (vented fronts) when brand new stops the thing pretty damn good.
If I were to take a bone stock c900 and I was only allowed a single change, I would put the stickiest tires I could fit on it (and I mean fit properly on the wheel, bigger ain't always better)
