smeter hey there & welcome to our board :-)
basicaly some folks can change the programming in controll units for fueling, boost controll,& timing this can be done in diferent stages & most folks will sell the first setup for X amount & do upgrades at a reduced rate
trionic & DIAPC cars are the only cars that chips can be bought for that will do what they say without logging data on your car specificaly & that is because these systems controll all 3 aspects of tuning (unless you put in a DIAPC chip & no fuel chip or visa versa) on a car where the boost & timing are controlled with more manual adjustments custom chips are needed to get acurate air fuel ratios because slight changes in boost,& fuel pressure have a huge effect on air fuel ratios
I am pretty new to tuning but am a master auto technician/diagnostician & have been in the biz for 22 years since I was 15 Ive worked in shops,
fuel injection diagnostics is my strong point & tuning was a natural next step, over the last year I have spent probably more than 100 hours logging data in one form or another making changes & seeing how it effects other aspects of tuning & have learned allot & invested heavily in software & hardware
most good tuners are more concerned about your engines safetey than you are because if your car goes fast & holds together the tuner looks good
:-)
I know frank stromqvist of SQR he is an awesome tuner & allot of fun to hang out with
Ive seen his work & would strongly advise buying from him I think the only way to buy his software is thru engstrom motorsports
I hope my ramblings were helpful please come amytime & ask all the questions you can there is also awesome archives in the search function as well
take care
JAK
