Ginormous racket, assistance? kinda long

Started up the project car last night, 2.0L block 2.1L head and cams, and i get this enourmous racket from the engine, sounds like really bad lifters. When the head was assembleded the lifters weren's primed, and they made a lot of noise, but this is almost as loud, louder with the cam cover off. Car ran fine last weekend around the block with no noise, and primed all the lifters by cranking the engine with the black cam bearing cap nut loose, all bled oil, none fixd the problem. I checked compression, all are fine, ~ 195psi like before. It sounds like a very loud click or metallic thud, and looking in at the top of the piston it looks like it's in rhythm to the piston going up and down, but i cant imagine how letting it sit a week after driving it gently would make something in the bottom end come loose, all the belts are fine, none f the ancillaries are moving, timing chain looks fine.
If i put a 3/8ths" socket extension down the spark plug hole and push on top of the piston, they don't have any play. It sounds like its coming from cyl # 1, or somewhere on the back of the motor.
Any suggestions will be helpful,
Drew
