Let me break it down one time:
Here's the basics:
Each gear has 38 teeth. Each tooth is about 10 degrees (actual = 9.4737).
Also the cam gear-to-camshaft has about 0.5 degree slop which you can take advantage
of even with stock gears.
Starting from Zero, you can go 5 degrees each way without changing anything
else (you don't even need to remove the chain or chain tensioner). But say you
needed +7 degrees, then you do this trick: skip a tooth on the chain (+10 deg) and
then dial in -3 degrees with the adjustable gear. In this way, there isn't any
setting that you couldn't have.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the crank spins at 2X the camshaft speed.
This means that every 1-degree at the camshaft is 2-degrees at the crank. Crank
degrees are the standard when talking about engines. If you look at other cam gears,
it is hard to tell what standard they are using.
I'll keep ya'll posted on the gears. So far - commuting day 2 was fine.
I did lots of cruising at 90mph and 4000+rpms to keep load on it.
