we don't need to go for strick DOT style certifications (crash tests, etc). Basically all we need is an importer, and there are a few good ones that charge about $1000, and that garantees that the car is ready for safety and all the proper de-reg papers and what-not, then license.

Skye Service SPL (http://skyeservice.com/menu_pages/)... I'm thinking I'll go with. He is an exporter in Japan, and does a very personal search for the right car, through the dealer network, personal ads, and auctions (which I'm not that fond of). Once that is done it can be imported through a place like Import Concern, for hte above mentioned amount. One does not need an exporter like Skye, but an extra $1500 can go a long way in terms of finding a well cares for car.

A R32 GT-R through Motorex will cost US customers more than $30K USD. That's an '89, and that is about $25KCAD more than the cost of the car in Japan. But for us Canucks we can get them for closer to the asking price. Iv'e seen some very low miles '89s (I'm talking less than 50 000km!) at a couple dealers (Zele International for example, and autovalue.co.jp) over there for around $20KCAD. We just need to wait for the hype to settle down in AUS and Canada, and those '89 and '90 models will drop even further. This 15 year rule has got people frantic on owning a '89 GT-r One importer had one listed for $18KCAD already, but it was not the best quality;-)

good times are coming;-) There is a GTR BB already in Canada and is very informative. Have to be VERY carefull not to overspend at importers taht are riding the hype;)
