My uncle just bought a new C40. Even though he got it at a discounted price from his "source", it was still rediculously expensive.
I myself am extremely partial to Titanium. You can still make a sub-two pound frame and not have an extremely harsh ride like some super light carbon frames and forks. Not only that, but you'll have a frame that will last a lifetime, not just a season. Plus, it's repairable and you can modify it an infinite number of times over the life of the frame.
I would agree that carbon is the undisputed "most sexy material for a bike frame". But I think that Ti is a close second ;) Anyway, below is a link to the company I work for. We make custom Ti (surprise!) bikes and forks of all flavors.
