At last! I've been a reader of this board for nearly 2 years but only now do I have a computer I can post with! Been very anxious to get involved on this board especially since Jak started cracking into LH...
Here's the machine and its add-ons:
1987 SAAB 900 Aero with mods;
Jorgen Eriksson 5-speed
Garrett GT28RS71R 400hp+ (hot side A/R .86)
Custom exhaust elbow feeding 2.5" SS DP to tail
Lightend and Balanced 9" flywheel and clutch
RRFPR with Red series '30lbs' injectors.
Nology Hotwires, G9 A.I.D, MSD blaster coil, Silverstone plugs.
Adjust. Hyperboost Bypass valve.
STOCK intercooler 89+ pipes, silcone sleeve fittings and vac lines.
Volt regulator.
The original gearbox failed on me with stock power levels and 87K miles on it. I was fully aware of weaknesses intrinsic to the C900 box so I grandma'd it everywhere. With a towbar fitted I blame the previous owner who must of 'turbo-towed' things around. Car had been off the road for 9 months in total.
Car now is running great. Low down and part throttle it is much smoother. I can see this turbo makes good boost fairly low in the rev range but the car doesn't make power out of any of it untill just under 4K revs, (I know this is openthrottle-fuel curve related and Jak I will need your help on that soon) where it pulls HARD - but smoothly - at max boost to redline or fuel cut - I really have to stare at the tacho.
I really love these cars. They are so much more styled in good taste and fun than the local breed of rwd V8s or the import skylines you see on every street corner here. I'll take the feeling of sitting in that narrow cockpit of the fast jet-fighter 900! Any day...
Finally i'd like to thank Dave K at Group 9 Performance (i've had problems contacting you) for all the peripherals. The quality and finish of your products and feedback is unparalleled.
Look forward to advice from those on the TSN performance board. Thanks for bearing with this post.
