force" pressure plate installed in my '97 9K. I used a stock disk, a new
slave, a Speedparts SS clutch line and a Group9 lightened flywheel.
Pedal force is comparable to stock. The clutch starts to engage
about an inch or so off the floor. Not a real problem, just different.
Boe and Paul at Automotion rebuilt the transmission to fix the broken
speedo drive gear, replaced 2nd &3rd syncros, most of the bearings,
and cleaned out the plastic bits from the oil passages. It's a little
stiff engaging 1st, but that may be due to the low clutch and I'll
just have to get used to it. Very attractive alternate than buying and
installing an Erickson.
The effect of the lightened flywheel is subtle. It's hard to judge because
without the speedo working I've been stuck with base boost.
It seems to rev quicker, but the change from base to full boost
clouds the evaluation. This car has always been more responsive
than my '95 FPT.
To me, it looks like there is now a viable replacement for the Sachs
sport clutch. It has similar specs and should work fine with 300+ hp.
