Figuring out the MBC+A thing....

Hi All,
I've got a '97 900 SE, pretty much all stock. I'm happy with its performance once the turbo has spooled up, but would like to liven it up in the 0-30 MPH range where (unfortunately) most of my driving takes place. I've read about the Dawes-style MBC, and it makes good sense to me. I'm thinking of putting one in series with the stock unit to make the turbo spool up faster, but retain stock max boost.
In this case, do I need to worry about MBC+A ? My thinking is that if the Dawes device is set well below stock max boost, then any overshoot will still be within safe range, and the ECU can still fuel in case its not. Is this thinking right ?
Also, I've read various things about MBC+A, but never seen an actual place to buy one or a specific DIY HOWTO. Any pointers ?
Thanks,
Jeff
