I just mentioned that because most every time we see an oil pressure problem with an otherwise indestructible early Saab oiling system it turns out to be residual blasting media trapped in the baffle area of a powder coated valve cover that migrates into the oiling system and hangs up the oil pressure relief valve. Fortunately the oil filter traps enough of it so as not to do serious damage to the rest of the engine however one customer that posts here had an extreme amount of sand built up from blasting and lost his whole engine from it! We heard from another customer that he for an unrelated reason had removed his powder coated valve cover after installing it before starting his engine and found sand all over that corner of his cam and lifters. We recommend grinding the rivet like nubs off to remove the baffle and drilling and tapping for 4mm x .75mm button head screws, then clean the whole valve cover thoroughly before reattaching the baffle plate. To check for this just fish something into that vent chamber where your vent hose/one-way valve fitting plugs in and see if there's any foreign material present?
