Don't know about altitiude but I bought a reprogrammed ECU from BSR ( makers of the PPC) because the PPC was not available for my car( I thought the ease of reversing to stock was worth it but I got a new ECU and kept may old one Now have a stock ECU as well as a reprogrammed one and the cost was $100 less than the PPC. It only takes about 15 minutes to get the ECU in and out and I can probably do it in 5 now ( because you have to remove it, even with the PPC, before you order to read all the numbers off the unit) I have heard of the PPC unit dying mid transfer too and that may cause a little wait to get the car back on the road. I might even buy a spare if I bought the PPC just to have in case
BTW, never replaced the stock unit but have a spare if gas prices make it unreasonable to by premuim all the time. I might also buy a reprogrammed unit from SQR now that I found this board as well.
