"SAAB GET´S A FACELIFT (Spy pictures from testrun)

SAAB 9-5 get´s new design in front and back to look more modern- to survive a few more years. At the same time the power in the Aero increases to almost 280 hp.
Yesterday, SAAB CEO Peter Augustsson announced that he resigns, less than a week after the decision to move the production from Trollhattan to Russelsheim. Earlier this week the spy photografer startled SAAB;s testdrivers up in Northern Sweden.

More "SAAB-ish"
The new model is camouflaged in front but Aftonbladet can reveal that the front will be more SAAB-ish than today. The three openings in the grille are more obvious, who ever gets run up by a 9-5 will immediately recognize what car it is in his back mirror. In the back the lines /strokes will be cleaner than today.
The engine in todays Aero has 250 hp but will now be increased to 280hp.
It is still the 4 cyl turbo that is developed and built in ths SAAB engine factory in Sodertalje (just south of Stockholm).
SABB 9-5 was first presented summer -97, a few months earlier Audi had shown their new A6. Today, when that model from Audi already has been replaced by a completely new car it is time for SAAB to give the 9-5 it´s second facelift.
The successor of todays 9-5 is not planned until earliest 2008.
The 2nd facelift that Aftonbladet reveals today will have it´s sales start in August and the price will not change."

Above is a translation from Aftonbladet article of March 10th 2005.
