finally have boost--now how to get more? Posted by michael [Email] (#1365) [Profile/Gallery] (more from michael) on Thu, 24 Mar 2005 11:57:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
finally completed a tune up, fixed all vacuum hoses/connections, and am boosting (i'm guessing) 12-13psi--about 1/4 into red. my gauge pegs at 10psi, which i hit before i get to red. this is on a cool day, about low 60's. when it warms up (in the high 70's/low 80's yest) i just kiss the red, and the needle bounces--i assume this is the apc kicking in, and i am finally boosting enough to start knocking. looking at all the mods on the board, i'm wondering what to do next, and what's causing the knock. car is stock as far as i know. the apc tweaks might help on a cool day, but not when it's warm. don't know if fueling (3bar fpr, injectors) will help; maybe i'm running lean under boost? how about distro mod/timing? or ic? obviously, all 3 of these should help, but which ones are most critical? next trip to atlanta i'll hit the pull-a-part and pull a new ic (anything that's essentially a bolt on side mount upgrade except talon?) in a few months. thanks!
