Here's the deal:
I am going to help my friend and neighbor(neophyte car guy) upgrade fr/rr suspension on his '97 mustang convt. Linx, bushings, traction bars, panhard, etc., to the tune of approx $2000.00. I have the understanding, garage and most of the tools to pull this off. It WILL be a learning experience (on HIS car) for both of us.
IN EXCHANGE-
for my assistance, expertise and wrench turning my neighbor has offered to to buy, for MY CAR-- whatever parts I want/need to upgrade MY suspension AND he'll help me install said parts!!
Sweet Deal!
My Car--
VERY well kept (right Bob?)
'87 na 900S (red)
Still stock (sport) suspension
New Boge shox
Cold air box/modified intake
2.25'' catback w/ S&S tubular header
MagnaFlow muffler
Ansa split tip
Some (minor) head work
235k miles
Runs GREAT for NA
My objective:
Lower the car to SPG level or less but maintain streetable ride quality.
Stiffen the suspension enough to have 'SOLO' fun but stay fairly civilized on road trips.
Questions:
PU bushings everywhere possible?
-PU squeek?
-PU harshness/durability?
-Intrax, Eibach, SAAB SPG spring set, SWEDISH DYNAMICS Red Series--What are the positive and negeative aspects of these choices? I've heard and read harsh, sagging, not progressive, rough ride, etc.
-Will a new set of sport BOGE be able to effectively damp performance spring sets?
-If BOGE won't, who will? KONI, BILSTIEN, ??
Finally, does anyone have any any feedback on the 'alternator bushing' mentioned on Swedish Dynamics website. Sounds like a 'muffler bearing' or 'cognoggit bolt' to me.
Thanks friends of SAAB for anny and all feedback.
