What class do you want to run in?
Assuming "Stock" class changes you can do:
Wires are legal. Shocks are legal. Front sway bar is legal (some even remove them). High flow air filter in the stock box is legal. If you're still on the dedicated autocross car idea, rollcages are legal and if designed right, can really stiffen things up (like the steering box mount). Stock sized wheels are legal (you can use whatever size wheel you could get on the model). Tire size can be whatever size you can squeeze over the wheels - competition tires (shaved and heat cycled) are what you want for the fastest times - Hoosiers are the best. For a beginner though, just run what you normally drive on and learn to drive the car first before dumping a ton of cash into stock modifications.
Polybushings are not legal on your suspension.
The wear and tear is minimal, so use whatever fluids are normal. The seasoned guys usually run full synthetics.
There are also "other" things: pull the "factory options" off the car that are heavy like the a/c. pull out everything that is normally removable like the spare tire. Go with a custom alignment, replace all worn bushings, upgraded brake pads, tighten all suspension components, custom tuning, etc.
