Hello all,

In my '89, I did an APC mod and 3.0 FPR. I was getting boost to about 3/4 red then it would cut down to about 1/3 red. I then did the AID mod and it was holding pretty stable almost 3/4 red.

I then twiddled with the APC again and the boost seemed to hit higher for an instant but would still hold at almost 3/4 red.

Question 1: would further altering my advance module help it hold higher in the red?

I got a hold of a timing gun and timed my engine to 20 (it was at 16). Now the engine seems to idle more quietly and there seems to be more response in the lower RPMs. However, it doesn't seem to hold or reach the boost levels I had when the timing was set at 16.

I plan to set the timing back to 16, pressurize the advance module, measure the timing, set the timing back to 20 and then re-modify the advance so that it hits the timing measured when it was at 16 (or further if the answer to question 1 is yes).

Question 2: am I heading in the right direction or do I risk damaging something by having such a large difference between the initial timing and the retarded timing?

Question 3: my base boost is about 1/2 yellow (yeah, I know, get a guage you cheapskate), could my increased boost be opening the wastegate? If so, what would be the maximum safe base boost I could set?

Thanks a lot!
