Don,
I have an 85 900 turbo. I have a pre turbo oil cooler. I feel it is to advantage for our oil cooler turbos. Cooler is better. I live in the south where it can get pretty hot. I found by installing a pre turbo oil cooler and running snyc oil, I have been able to drop my over all running temps by 10 to 30 degrees. I also know it keep the turbo 40 degrees when driven hard on near 80 degree days. If you want I can send you some pics of how I did it! Or check my Gallery
As far as the oil temp goes, you could fab up a piece to fit in the delivery line to the turbo. The only sending units I've seen were the oil pan plug type.
