Watch the boost guage. What you are probably feeling is boost delay.
A SMBC will help with that. If you did some mods, you could use a MBC+A.
(Boost is also limited in the lower gears to limit wheel slip.)
Does your boost eventually get to the start of the red zone on the boost indicator?
Are you using premium fuel?
