Im not sure either, I've just heard good feedback from others on it. I'd imagine that sitting front it would enjoy improved airflow, an interesting fact from Bell is that if you want to build a duct to an IC, you only need that duct to be 1/4 of the surface area of the IC, because on a non ducted IC, on 1/4 of the air that hits actually goes through it. I think in the second slot, the IC would then only have a portion of that 1/4 of the air that went through the first heat exchanger (1/4 of 1/4?)
"Regarding the size of the IC, you yourself say above that the Viggen IC is not significantly different in terms of flow than the 9000, yet the Viggen was designed from the start with 230HP."
That is true, but what you need to keep in mind is even at 165hp the 9000 intercooler would be restrictive from a tuners perspective. So while the viggen IC would have some flow advantages to the 9000, it would still be considered undersized for 230hp. Also it was originally developed for 205hp HOT 2.0 liter, and it got carried over to the viggen model. So by that rational why would you take a intercooler that the factory made for 205hp and put it on a car that makes 225hp stock, and that you are trying to get more power out of?
In terms of how much of a difference the water/meth makes vs the IC it totally depends on how the injection system is set-up. If you go with injector map based unit and tune it out to the lean the mixtures and advance the timing you will see very nice increases in power. If you just inject it with a boost activated switch, you will still get some benefits, like what Nathan saw, which was very consistant power between two runs.
