the difference is in the car's wiring, not the ECU. You did not need to buy a "manual ECU", only interrupt the discreet signal (12 volts) going in to the ECU via pin 14. You car is using the "manual ECU" program until you move the gear selector to any position other than P or N. Once you put it in Drive (or any of the other gears), the ECU switches its programming to "auto ECU" mode.
