Many people seemed to think that four wheel burn outs are the answer, not the problem...

When you step off the clutch quick enough to get the wheels to spin the load on tranny is minimal. However when you let go of the clutch hard, but not quick enough or at high enough rpm to get them to spin, it bogs and that shock goes right to the tranny...

The consenus was that most damage comes from those who don't fully commit to the launch or are running big heavy wheels with sticky tires that don't want to spin.

Clutch dragging works to, but it can heat the clutch up enough that it won't fully grab and will cause glazing and quick deteriation (stock clutchs are fine for around 350hp at the crank)

For similarly cool effect with FWD, try getting two metal cafeteria trays and putting them under the rear tires. Lock the ebrake in position and enjoy...I recommend doing this in a vacate parking lot.
