I'll tell you what's going on with my early '90's 2.4LH programmed 900T... Hypothesis: ECU not compensating the air/fuel mix for change in altitude or small upgrade in injector sizing. I get Sluggish, boggy type performance from 24# injectors when I recently moved from sea level to 6000 feet. Despite removing RRFPR, I still got that same bad acceleration. I Figured it was an over rich condition and that the ecu couldn't compensate for the 24# injectors. I went back to using the stock 21# injectors. What a difference, like night and day, finally my 900T ran like it was supposed to, it wasn't a super HP car, just the very good quick sprited performance we know C900T Saabs deliver. I added in some extra fuel so it wouldn't lean out at max boost by dialing in a little RRFPR. I set it just right. The RRFPR didn't seem to affect acceleration much either way, unless I dialed in too much, then performance went down and got a little boggy but not much. But I found the right mix after hours of seat of the pants testing during day and night, and then left it alone and enjoyed my Saab. After about 200 miles or so after installing the stock injectors... I'm getting a sluggishness again and some boggy type acceleration all through the rpm and boost range. What happened to my quick, spirited acceleration? I get the same max boost with either injector, but the crisp acceleration from the re-install of the stock injectors is fading fast! Now I've got the same problem I had originally with the 24# injectors, only less severe. I believe that since the 21# injectors deliver less fuel, the problematic condition manifests as less severe, but the real core issue/problem seems to be acting up again... I'm thinking that it must be my ECU. I changed nothing in the equation of variables but the # output of the injectors. I saw a big difference for about 200 miles, then sorta back to the sluggish, boggey acceleration again. No variables changed, same gas brand and octane. Acceleration is a always a little better when the temp. is cooler outside, but it's the same amount of "better" regardless of injector size or when I immediately changed over the injectors, weather/temp outside doesn't seem to be a variable. It has got to be the ECU, or something computer /electrical related, no? I could swap it out with a known good unit, but how often do these ecu's go bad? Aren't ecu's expensive? Is there anything else computer related I should test or swap out??? Please help!!!
One more part of the equation: I think it might be that I even had this problem at sea level with the 24# injectors, but all that extra 02 there covered up the fact that the computer wasn't compensating because, it didn't really need to with all that 02 rich air.
