not turbo related, but I had a recent disaster with the crank seal metal tensioner band coming loose, getting ground up and doing all sorts of destruction to my brand new rebuilt engine...(now thankfully rebuilt AGAIN and running fine). If you suspect metal fragments made it into the oil pan, dump the oil, remove and inspect the filter...cut it open and look for fragments. If you find swarf in the filter you will also have an oil cooler full of swarfy oil...undo the pipes at the filter housing and flush it thoroughly with fresh oil and gentle use of an airline. If you have plenty of fragments, get a magnet on a stick up through the sump drain and see if there is more...if there is, you are in trouble and will have to decide whether to remove the engine, split the engine & box and clean it all out..also the oil pump, if it sucked up this stuff will be scored and will have damaged the bearings.
I truly hope you are fine...and honestly if the filter has no metal shavings anywhere you should be. Just, my tail of woe SUCKED after my 2 year project of collecting all the parts for my new engine build only to have to strip it again.
My irony...my turbo, which was original at 282K...an oil cooled T3 unit...actually survived!!!
