my unscientific tests told me that if the heads had been running on lead gasoline for a long time, back in the day, they will hold up pretty well to unleaded. However, if you have a set of heads off and do any valve work, you really should spend the (very few) bucks to upgrade to hardened valve seats.
I had a set of NOS heads that I put on my sonett, within 10,000 miles the valves had recessed into the heads enough that I couldn't adjust the valves enough to fix the problem.
