Rear Wheel Bearing Play ??

Finally got the Sonett all back together yesterday and we took it for a ride.
We are still a little concerned about the rear wheel bearings. They seem to have some play where you can grab the wheel at 12:00 and 6:00 and rock it slightly.
While these are not tapered bearings, I would have thought the fit was better. Everything is tightened to specs. With only 35K on the speedo the drums and shaft looked good. Both sides are the same.
I'm going to guess the grade of SKF bearing that I bought might have some play in it. Maybe they all have this amount, just didn't seems normal to me.
Any ideas?
