Joe H,
I am in the process of building a Rotisserie for a few Sonett frames I have Joe. If you have only a few small areas requiring welding in small patches etc. you may find it difficult and expensive to build one for a Sonett with the body etc. still attached.
I am planing on attaching the rear of the frame (trailing arm mounting areas) to a bracket that is made from an old trailer reciever (2 in. X 2 in. ID tube) and the front bracket (also made from an old trailer reciever section) will attach in the engine compartment and mount onto and between the two front suspension towers. Both the front and rear brackets will slide onto and will be bolted onto 13' long 2" OD tube. This 13' long tube runs under the floor of the frame and is supported with a slightly modified engine stand at each end (bolted together differently and I believe they are rated at 1000 lbs.). Don't forget that the frame stripped (body and all off) is about 260 lbs. Your car without the engine and trans and wheels will be close to 1000 lbs. I don't recommend removing the body unless you really have to to do a total restoration. I have seen photos of a Rotisserie used for a Sonett frame which attached to the rear bumper brackets and the engine mount areas of the engine compartment but neither the front or rear supports were attached to the other. My worry is that the frame might twist if held like so during the removal of rusty panels and/or rockers. I hope this is a help Joe. Please keep us informed on how your project goes.
