Ritchie, cheers for that. I've doen soem more listening, looking on teh web and fiddling.
So what I hav efound is that the "whine" occurs in all gears when backing off, it can be quite loud (hence I don't believe its a 4th gear bearing related noise). If I depress the clutch, noise goes away. I ran th ecar into work this morning (on her way to the dyno shop) with the freewheen in operation and there si no noise whatsoever.
I suspect it may be the diff as well.
The exhaust is all clear of everything, no leaks now, but boy is the car chewing fuel, but I'll let the tuner find that, since I am sure he'll be changing Jets.
Bad luck about not winning, thats a fine car you have. I need to sort my paint out before I can show mine off - I never did get eth apint matched properly, no one has a match in Australia, but I did get a mix from the US - Dupont actually replied. I need to visit a shop an dsee what they will charge for a real paint job. Then I can decide whether to pay that or do a home job. I've done a couple of 1930s cars, come out ok, just uses a lot of paint an debven more rubbinng. but painting GRP seems a bit scary.
Anywya take care of yourself and keep as well as you can, and keep occupied - thats th emost important thing!
"Cold" down here in Oz, we had overnights of 1 degree Celcius at our place (34 in your stuff) and highs of 10C (50 that is).
