I may be looking at a '70 Sonett tomorrow Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 26 Mar 2013 07:56:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This one has 99K miles, actually runs, and is far more reasonably priced than last week's cars. The current owner has only had the car for a week or so as he took it in as trade for something else.
What I know so far:
Said to be a '70 model. Originally Yellow but now a faded Mint Green. Interior said to be new and mostly accurate (sliding lumbar cushions present) with wood on top edge of door panels, matching wooden sun visors(!?), and matching wooden dashboard knobs. Free Wheel function disabled with lever missing. New floor under battery box due to frozen battery. Bottom side of chassis is coated in a POR15 like material. Five steel wheels. Two good tires and two dry-rotted. License plate is from 1995. A Colorado emmissions sticker on windshield with year not readable. A couple spider webs in body at top rear of driver's door that may be paint cracks only. No external evidence of any engine modifications.
The present owner says the driver's door needs to be adjusted as it appears to have sagged slightly. Door gap at upper rear is too small.
Does this sound like routine hinge wear on a 43 year old car? Or does this sound like potential A-pillar frame problems?
