Cost of refreshing a Sonett from 30 years of storage? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 11 Jun 2015 17:36:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I stumbled across a 1972 Sonett with under 22K miles. From the owner's story the past 35 years have only added about 3500 miles to the odometer. Tires are mid-90s vintage and I have to assume all engine rubber components are original. Car was re-painted in mid-90s as well and is described as showing age (but aging is not visible in photos).
Obviously this car will require a thorough inspection/renovation effort of original newly new parts that may fail due to age before driving. Asking price is reasonable at first glance but is weighted toward the low miles and not the level of effort required to ensure the car is safe again before driving. Tranny is described as having a whine. Normal for this car or indicative of long storage?
Oh yeah, my current car total already exceeds garage space by one.
