Hopefully, you figured this out by now...
- You are correct on the firing order 1 3 4 2
- However, #1 cylinder is forward, passenger side near the alternator. #2 cylinder is passenger side, near firewall. #3 is forward, driver side. #4 is driver side rearward near firewall.
- #1 cylinder connects to the distributor cap and tends to be the connection closed to the firewall. And then you connect clockwise around the distributor 1 3 4 2.
Next, of course, is spark and fuel. Sounds like you have both of those. Maybe recheck when you're sure you have the wires correct.
