Swapping 73 parts onto a 70 frame...compatibility issues? Posted by SteveR [Email] (#2755) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SteveR) on Mon, 14 Jun 2021 18:09:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 11 year saga with this car continues...

I disassembled my 1973 sonett completely. Every single nut and bolt!
Then, I scrapped the EXTREMELY rusty frame (trust me it was not salvageable), and in return I purchased a mostly rust-free 1970 (or 1971) texas sonett with frame, suspension, steering, dash, and wiring harness from the dash rearward (the front was literally cut out).
Now I want to put all my 73 parts onto this 70 (or 71) frame, including harness.
How much trouble am I in for here? Here is my guess:
I think these parts will be plug-and-play from my 73 onto the 70 frame:
Fiberglass bonnett
Fiberglass body
Engine / transmission / exhaust
Steering wheel / column / rack
I doubt these parts will swap between 73 and 70:
Wheels (70 has totally different hubs I think)
wiring harness (dash seems different)
fuel system
engine electronics?
I am grateful for any insight in advance. Link to pictures for attention.
