I haven't tried this but I assume it removed by one of two methods:
1. There is a panel on top of the dashboard (in front of the steering wheel) that is removable (two screws). this gives you some access to the back of the instrumentation to replace bulbs or service some gauges.
2. remove the dashboard. Check the Sonett II service manual in section 8 (it isn't too specific).
Let us know what you do. I also have a 69 Sonett II/V4. I have only had it a couple of months and am dealing with bad fuel and possible removal of the fuel tank (to have it cleaned).
