We recently did the Weber conversion on our Sonett III. Used a Weber 32/36 DFV, so identical to the DGV but with primary and secondary reversed.
Rejetted the Weber as per Ashcraft instructions, although emulsion tubes weren't available, but all jets were. Also have done plugs and points and timing of course, but not coil or condenser.
The engine still runs rich at idle (it smells rich, and has white/grey exhaust) and has a 'lopping' (a relaxed sort of surge) idle. It starts, hot or cold, with no choke needed even at 40F. Mechanical fuel pump is strong. Engine runs great at all speeds and loads.
Adjusting the idle mixture screw doesn't have any noticeable effect: no change in idle speed or sound. We're going to pull the carb off and go through it again (it was NOS from 1970-ish, never used), but are there any suggestions on things to be looking for?
