Does your Sonett still have the regular fixed nose with opening engine lid, or does the whole nose tilt forward for access to the engine bay? If the latter, some previous owner must have installed the tilt-nose conversion -- Jack Ashcraft sells a book detailing how to do this. (The conversion makes the Sonett III nose work like the one on the previous Sonett V-4, or a Triumph Spitfire, and makes engine compartment access considerably easier.)
The quad rectangular headlamp installation is a common part of this conversion, as the stock pop-up headlight linkage won't accommodate a tilt nose. However, your previous owner/customizer might have left the nose alone and installed the quad headlamps just for looks, and/or to eliminate the nuisance of having to disconnect the pop-up linkage when pulling the nose off for maintenance.
