Found Euro Bolts That Will Ship, Next Question Headbolts Posted by BradW [Email] In Reply to: Flywheel Bolts in the U.S.?, BradW |
Sorry to be an overhaul pest! I did find someone who'll ship from Europe despite US Tariff mayhem.
Now on to headbolts! In my misbegotten youth, I never once replaced headbolts on anything I overhauled (diesels included), but in this modern age it seems like the thing to do? I can't find confirmation in the manual that these are stretch bolts like the flywheel bolts. Also, no one makes the double ended headbolt that you use to ground the engine. If you get all new headbolts but keep that one double ended/threaded bolt is that a bad idea?
Or is it safe to use the old bolts on an updated, higher horsepower rebuild?
