I use a thin smear of RTV for all of that stuff. Except head gaskets- those go on dry. And I use whatever I have around- usually it's the blue Permatix stuff.
There's a special procedure I use for the intake manifold that I got from Jack Lawrence years ago. Here's what he wrote:
"I have had very good luck with cheap clear silicone by DowCorning caulking tube 732 and use the high temp brown only on exh. flanges. When ready to install intake manifold try this. Clean all contact surfaces and apply a tac coat of clear silicone to all surfaces on heads and block. Put an amount the size of a match head in the 4 lower corners. Set the new gasket into the valley in the proper position. Install manifold and torque in position and aligned. Leave overnight if possible, then remove the manifold. If the valve gear was left off all valves will be closed and the gasket can be cut using an inward cutting motion and pieces vacuumed out after. Treat the manifold with a tac coat plus the blobs in corners and reinstall. A light will show your port alignment thru carb. flange holes."
