How fortunate can one Saab fanactic be?? The tech school has welded in pieces on the larger holes in my floorboard...even matching the origional corregations! Next week they will finish with the small areas.
Even better, the mechanical instructor has agreed to take on putting the car back on the road...including the brakes! Next week he promises me a parts list...I'll be looking for help finding some, however I've already found the brakes(hoses, wheel cyclinder kits, master kit) in Birmingham and the cluch master/slave kits at GAPA..if you can believe it!

Soooo...now I'm beginning to tackle cosmetics. I'm cleanning the vinyl panels and seats...they will be re-usable. However the cloth inserts on the seats are shot. I have a good upholsterer, but I would like to make them as origional as possible. Is there a souce for the origional material, or similar? Mine appears to be very light beige with a definite pattern..are they all alike..my vinyl is the ever popular saddle tan.I am fortunate to still have both lumbar pillows and straps in place...so they can be recovered too!

The carpet...its looong gone..most had been replaced with various shades of rubber backed indoor/outdoor. The remaining pieces of origional carpet are so bad, I'm not sure what color it was origionally. Is origional carpet available? what other suggestions do you have..is the origional color a match to saddle tan? Also suggestions for removing the door sill screws..heads are hammered..would be appreciated.

I plan to paint the entire floor area after repairs are complete, with a canned spray-in bedliner product from Advanced Auto...comments??

Sorry for such a long post..look forward to hearing from y'all!! Really appreciate all your help and encouragement!

'71 SonettIII, '73 96(next..it's horrible) '85 900SPG (my son's in Nashville), '88 900T ( my soon to be daily driver), '95 9000 Aero(for sale-Saabnet), '99 9-5 wagon...3 more weeks til lease turn-in!
