Mike, I have one you can try out. That one you have is BEEFY looking at the least. Most low pressure pumps are somewhere between 1.5-3 LBs of pressure. your carb would be fine with that. Inline regulators aren't spendy and take out any guessing but I don't have them on any of my V4s. The pumps I have are from checker...something like 20 bucks and a 2 year warrantee. They are facet pumps and they make noise. I kinda like the reasurance that they are getting power but a rotary pump both pushes and pulls (the facets usually just push) and tend to run much more quietly...and for a about double or more the price. Maybe someone out there has found a good, inexpensive one? (granted, expensive is in the eye of the spender..I suppose.)
If your pump sounds funny, it could be the fuel, not the pump. Have you changed the filter ever? If you do, see what comes out of it. My sonett still has stuff floating in the tank because I have yet to have the money when I have the time to remove the tank and have it sealed up. They all tend to rust a bit if they sit very long even slightly empty. With stuff hanging out in the lines, the pump can get starved from time to time or the filter could be clogging up. Just a though.
Give me a call if you need help sorting any of this out.
Dan
