I've been surfin' an unnamed tire site and found a replacement OEM tire for the Toyota MR2 that may make a great hi-po tire for the Sonett. It's quite rare to find a high performance tire offered at 185/55/15. If I'm only driving the car in the warm weather months--why not!!
I don't like being a sourpuss, but here is the why not:
I visited the tirerack site and it appears that the tire you name is intended to fit a 5.5" or larger rim. The ordinary Saab rim is 4". Some special wheels were suplied at 4.5" IRRC. Putting a tire onto a narrower rim than what it is designed for may have consequenses including poor handling, poor tire life, uneven tire wear, yadayada. Some of these consequences may be alleviated by good attention to alignment, treadwear, tire pressure, handling, yadayada.
It's at:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?make=Yokohama&model=A043
I've gone through the Sonett BB for feedback on 185/15s. Most people have been able to fit them, especially on a Sonett V4. If these work out I'll have to find a way thank "Mister Two" for forcing Yoko to stock the size.
I am not telling you not to use the named tire. I am suggesting that for optimum performance you need either a tire that properly fits the existing wheel, or a wheel modified to properly fit the tire you want to run.
Tires that fit the standard 4" Saab rim are rare but available. Performance tires in that size or any compatible size are not available as far as I can determine.
