Excellent spiv, it is rare to find such cogent advice as this and yours in general. For such very temporary treatment as you suggest if the problem appears to be inside the transmission, Marvel Mystery Oil may be even more powerful than ATF at cleaning thing things out once they can be persuaded to rotate at all. A transmission that has frozen internally is more likely stuck from corrosion than lubricant thickening, and if so, even it can be freed up to shift and operate, there is probably damage to sensitive surfaces that will promptly emerge in operation. A penetrating lubricant such as Pblaster is very effective to free up linkage components. Once freed, it is nice to try to get some grease in them.
