Make the overflow tube long enough to reach near the bottom of the "puke tank". It will naturally siphon coolant back into the cross header as the engine cools. I don't care for the taste of ethylene glycol enough to transfer it orally. This also keeps the sustem completely full.
The cycle computers tend to have a maximum make / break rate of the magnetic switch. The rpm of the magnet will increase as the road speed increases until the reed switch "floats". The cyclo-computer reading will stop registering above this rpm / road speed. Bicycles seldom get going this fast and their taller wheels make the road speed higher when it does occur.
The cruise control is a well worthwhile investment. I also have the Audiovox unit in my 69. It gets confused by the free-wheel allowing the engine speed to drop to idle on down hills. Lock out the freewheel or be ready for frequent "resume" button pressing.
Or keep the road speed high enough that air drag doesn't permit coasting.
I get around 35 mpg.
