I agree with Gordon, if the throwout bearing has gone bad you will hear a "grinding" noise, the bearing sits right inside the bell housing in the transmission. there was a replacment selling on ebay just a few weeks ago, i'm not sure of a direct supplier. i replaced mine on my sonett before i put the engine back in and it only took a minute, but then again i had the engine out and the transmission off.
