Eric,

I forgot to mentioned, that the owner had the missing parts. (He had remove them and was to saving them for spares, as he had another Sonett. The silver skeleton did come with the "removed" parts.

As for the project being big...I tend to look at it as one system at a time. Breaking it down is the key for me.

It is simply like the a car service manual.. follow the systems..

Work and perfect one system at a time until the car is up to the desired standards.

I tend to think, if you look at the whole car, then a bit of confusion enters as there is so much work to be done. This is why some projects never truly are finished, for the owner is hopping around from system to system.. even from one project car to one project car.

I like the first system to be the brakes( this way if the car runs..you can drive it! and not worry about liability.

The second system I choose is the fuel, including a rebuilt carb, third: ignition, fourth:cooling, etc..

If you think of the concept of how a complete car can be built in one day, then it makes me ponder ..why does it take eight years??

Surely, the hunt for parts, unorganization, money, even boredom, etc..

This is one of the reasons I bought the second Sonett. I was tired of sitting and looking at the thing and dreaming that it could run.

I really look forward to making the first Sonett drive and appear "new".

Working on a car is such peaceful therapy. Good music in the background, good tools. Sure, it can be an escape:("I'm off to the garage: leave me alone, and do not contact me when I am in the garage, unless it is an emergency!")
Yet it is a passion, many times better than sex, and when the performance is done, you have progress...not depletion of energy.
