You all may know this already, (I'm no tire expert...) but here's my understanding of the tire numbering:
For instance: 185/65-R15
The 1st number is the width of the tire in millimeters.
The 2nd number is the aspect ratio of sidewall height to the width (ie the sidewall height is 65% as tall as it is wide (185 x 65% = 120.25mm tall)
The letter (if there is one) is the (maunfacturer's recommended) speed rating. Different letters represent different speeds.
The last letter, is of course, the rim size.
