FYI Wilibill,
After I did some work on my motor I found my linkage to be unusually stiff also. What I found was I had installed the linkage wrong. This is kind of hard to explain but the long horizontal linkage rod had turned 180 degrees from where it should have been. When I looked at a photo of the long horizontal linkage rod and return spring in the manual I found the problem. The linkage is under pressure from the return spring and can flip out of position while you are working on/repositioning the carb etc.
