The info I got was secondhand. I was told the Jaguar XJ6 or 70's era Mercedes driving lights. The Jaguar was easier to find. There may be other buckets that would work but I don't know what they are. The screw arrangement on the Jag lights line up perfectly with the pre-punched holes in the Sonetts' plastic backshell. You do have to remove the backing plate or center hole from the backshell if yours has it.
I don't know what info is in the Nines article that you mentioned. I have seen larger driving lights installed in Sonetts but I don't know to what lengths it took to install them.
