Hi Saabsters,I recently had a close encounter in my '87 900 with a wet, low-hangingtree branch in my driveway. The result is a power antenna that brokeoff at the base. I checked with my local dealer and they cannot replacejust the mast, but must replace the whole assembly, and quoted me a priceof about $150 for the job. I'm hesitant to shell out that kind of moneyto replace an item that JC Whitney sells for $30. So, I need to know;1) Is the automatic antenna compatible with aftermarket units. I usuallygo through one antenna about every two years. $150 a pop is not appealing.2) Are there any tricks to replacing the unit? It looks pretty routine, but I've learned never to take Saab repairs for granted.3) How do aftermarket aerials affect radio reception? I live midwaybetween NY and Phila, and get good reception from neither. Many thanksSeth Wolpert
