Posted by The Saab Network (more from The Saab Network) on Sun, 18 Jun 2000 20:08:50

* Saab 9-3 Convertible nears 1,000 units again; 9-5 Wagon up 73 percent

* European Delivery program has best month in nearly a year (35 sales)

NORCROSS, Ga. - Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S. importer and distributor of
Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of 3,463 cars during May
2000. This compares to 3,944 cars in May 1999. Year-to-date, Saab sales are
at 13,555 vehicles, down 9.8 percent from last year. However, last year's
sales include a total of 1,520 fleet vehicles (of which 760 were sold in
May 1999). Saab has not recorded any fleet sales yet this year. When
comparing retail sales only, Saab is on pace with last year (13,555 vs.
13,508). Saab expects an equal number of fleet sales to occur later this
year.

Saab sold 1,902 9-3 models in May, including 908 9-3 Convertibles. The 9-3
Convertible, offered in three configurations including the high-performance
9-3 Viggen, continues to be on pace for a record year.

Sales of the Saab 9-5 Sedan and Wagon also remained very strong with a
total of 1,562 cars retailed during May. Of these, 515 were 9-5 Wagons, a
73 percent increase over May 1999. The 9-5 Wagon combines Saab's
world-class performance and safety attributes with real-world versatility
features like CargoTracksTM, an available sliding load floor, and nearly 73
cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats folded down.

Saab's International and Diplomat Sales (IDS), or European Delivery
Program, had its best month since June 1999 with 35 vehicles sold by U.S.
dealers and delivered to customers abroad. This program includes two free
roundtrip airline tickets to Europe and delivery of the vehicle back to the
selling dealer in the U.S.
