As many of us know, final approval ($) for the Pikes Peak Saab came very late, and Per Eklund and crew were barely able to assemble the car and have it flown to Colorado in time for on-site practice. At the year 2000 Owners' Convention we learned that the car was beginning to overheat as it reached the Peak, and the incredible heat damaged the K&N air filter, which then caused damage to the compressor.
WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR!!!! With some development, a car which stays healthy from start to finish, and Per Eklund at the wheel, and the ALL TIME RECORD is within Saab's grasp!!!!
(ps: There's nothing like a first place trophy to loosen managements purse strings for supporting motorsports.)
